posted on Tue, 13 May 2008 14:52:16 -0700

Many parents think they have no other choice but to put their children on medication for add/adhd. There is another alternative.     There are about 24 million children who are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and now there are many adults being diagnosed also. Most of them if most all are on some form of medication like Ritalin. There are other ways to get relief other than medication. There are many cases where medication has even made things worse. That is what this is about an alternative for t

Metaphorical Connection

posted on Tue, 13 May 2008 14:38:44 -0700

I’ve written about this before, but I was reminded of it yesterday in a kind of metaphorical way. I worked from home yesterday, because the hubby was dropping the kids off early yesterday, before going off to a night job he has every other week. Just before the rest of the family left, my cable internet connection went dead. I called tech support and was told there was a service outage in our area, related to the previous night’s storm. So began a day’s worth of frustration. (more…)

The Care and Feeding of a Non-ADD Spouse

posted on Tue, 13 May 2008 13:31:35 -0700

I spend a lot of time helping non-ADD spouses understand how to interpret their ADD husband’s actions (or, more frequently, inactions – a word I use without judgment.)  I think it’s time to write a piece for the ADD male about what non-ADD women want.  Perhaps you’ve seen the movie “What Women Want”?  This is what I think you would hear if you were Mel Gibson and could hear your wife’s thoughts. Thoughts and actions are not equally satisfying:  You may be thinking about me a lot, but when you

English version Lorsqu’un adulte croit que le TDAH adulte est un obstacle qui les retient, quelques-uns demandent un un diagnostic s’il peut retrouver les ressources, financières et cliniques, pour le faire, bien sûr. Adult ADHD: Beyond ADHD Medication and Diagnosis

posted on Tue, 13 May 2008 11:03:16 -0700

Version française   When adults suspect that adult ADHD has been holding them back some will get diagnosed if they can find the resources, financial and clinical, to do so. Many ask me what the diagnosis can accomplish. There are many other problems that resemble ADHD symptoms and require a different way to manage them. I caution those who call me to make sure that they seek help from someone who is trained in assessing ADHD. Once it’s official some will feel relief and realize that they’re

You want to what?.....

posted on Tue, 13 May 2008 10:35:02 -0700

Yesterday, we went for a checkup with the ADHD specialist. We go every 6 months because children who take a class A drug need to have regular medical checks to make sure they are growing at a normal rate (Ritalin has been known to stunt growth). George also has his blood pressure taken. What normally follows that, is a short discussion regarding any issues or problems - this is generally a kind of "counselling" session. Last time we went, in November 2007, we were told that we would be called b

Nurses Plead with the Government to Examine Vaccine Safety

posted on Tue, 13 May 2008 09:26:29 -0700

I was listening to the Alex Jones show last week and he mentioned that hospital nurses don't give Hepatitis B vaccines to their own children, but they are required by law to encourage new parents to vaccinate against it.   Apparently some concerned nurses are trying to get congress to listen to their concerns about the vaccine and it's stronger and stronger link to autism and learning disabilities in children.   Here is a link to Statement to the Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, Drug Pol
